Gold coin brightens Janesville Salvation Army bell ringing

The Janesville Salvation Army is calling attention to  a unique donation.  Major Bob Fay says a one-ounce gold coin valued at more than $1200 was dropped into a Red Kettle Tuesday.  The 1999 “Walking Liberty” gold coin was wrapped tightly in a $1 bill and placed in the kettle located at the Walgreens Store on Kettering Street.  The volunteer bellringers from Cub Scout Pack #410 had no idea such a generous donation had been made.  Fay says the gift is a needed boost to the campaign that is at about 45% of the $375 thousand goal.
