A 26-year-old Janesville man is under arrest, accused of hitting a residence and two vehicles with his car in Beloit and leading law enforcement officers on a high speed chase.
Beloit Police say 26-year-old Thomas D. Weidner faces possible charges of Operating While Intoxicated – second offense, hit and run – property damage, driving while his license was suspended and felony fleeing.
Beloit police were called to the 1700 block of St. Lawrence Avenue just before 4:00 Sunday morning where a vehicle had hit two parked cars and the fence and patio area of a residence. As Weidner backed out of the property, he nearly hit a squad car. Stop sticks were deployed with assistance of Town of Beloit police at Newark and McKinley. Police tried to stop the vehicle, but it fled on Afton Road and it reached speeds of up to 100 mph.
The Rock County Sheriff’s Office deployed a second set of stop sticks outside of Janesville and the vehicle was stopped. Weidner tried to flee on foot, but he was apprehended after the K-9 unit was deployed and a taser was used.
