The Rock County Medical Examiner’s office says the husband and wife found dead in a town of Fulton home last month died of gunshot injuries.

In a release Thursday, The medical examiner identifies 61-year-old Roger Letson, and 58-year-old Valerie Letson as the pair police found dead in their town of Fulton home May 22.

The medical examiner says an investigation shows Valerie Letson was described as dying from a “firearm-related trauma,” and Roger Letson was killed by a “homicidal firearm related trauma.”

The results are from a forensic autopsy completed May 24. That’s two days after police say they discovered the couple dead in their home in the 9000 block of North Newville Road.

Police indicated at the time they had no reason to believe the deaths involved a third party, saying the circumstances appeared “isolated to the residence” and that there were “no suspects” in the deaths.

Police haven’t released their own investigative findings in the case.

A joint obituary says the Letsons were married in 1991. The obituary says Roger Letson worked for an engineering company in Madison, and Valerie Letson had worked at Craig High School as a study hall monitor.

The pair had a joint funeral June 5, according to the obituary.
