The woman who testified against a man found guilty in a Janesville murder faces criminal charges.

Nicole Kazar, 30, of Janesville is charged with misdemeanor possession of cocaine and felony attempting to flee an officer.

The complaint says an officer saw Kazar pick someone up from a known drug house in Janesville on Monday. The officer followed as Kazar drove away, and Kazar suddenly stopped, her passenger got out of the car, and Kazar tried to speed away.

After they stopped her, police say they found Kazar had a baggie of cocaine that also tested positive for fentanyl.

In 2021, Kazar testified against Julian Collazo, the man convicted of the 2017 stabbing death of Christine Scaccia-Lubeck.

Kazar said she and Collazo had met and binged on crack cocaine in the days leading up to the murder. The pair left town in the victim’s car after the killing and were arrested in Missouri.

Collazo’s attorney suggested Kazar, not his client, was the killer.
