Applications for the 2008 Riverfest Singing Idol competition are now available through May 12, 2008, at twenty participating state line Associated Bank locations as well as Suds O’Hanahan’s in Beloit.
Please note that along with their filled-out application contestants must sign a release form and also submit a $20 entry fee. All applicants will receive one general admission ticket to Riverfest 2008 valued at $13.
The top three finalists will compete live before The Beach Boys concert on the Riverfest Main Stage on Sunday, July 13th. The first place winner receives $2,008 and, new this year, an album development recording contract. Also different from last year’s event, second and third place
winners will receive consolation prizes and an opportunity to record a single.

Advance registration is now open for the Taylor Marie Falligant Memorial Scholarship Golf outing at the Edgerton Towne Country Club on Saturday, May 31st. The 4-person scramble format golf event tees off for 9 holes at 1pm. Cost is $35/per person including cart and dinner. A discount rate of $20 is available for members of the country club. There will also be a $10,000 hole in one contest, Silent auction and other events.

Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary Flower Sale

The Janesville Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary annual flower sale will feature a two-day public sale this year, May 14 & 15. The annual flower sale will be held at the Fairview Mall, 2100 East Milwaukee Street, at the south side of the building near Wesley Avenue. Hours of operation are 9am - 5:30 pm each day. A large variety of annuals, perennials, mums and pots will be available. Funds from the sale are used to support Salvation Army programs such as camp scholarships, daily feeding activities and equipment needs. The Salvation Army of North Rock County includes the Janesville area and the cities of Edgerton and Milton.

The "Freedom Fest Classic" Golf benefit will take place on Saturday, June 21, 8:00am (shotgun start) at Prairie Woods Golf Course west of Janesville on County Highway "A".
Cost is $100/golfer or $400/team with discounts available to those parties purchasing sponsorship packages.
All the proceeds go to “Freedom Fest” - the God and country celebration that New Life Assembly of God hosts each year on the Friday before the 4th of July. AAWSVH Blues Concert and Fundraiser

The Alumni Association of the Wisconsin School for the Visually Handicapped is hosting a Blues Concert, featuring Bryan Lee and The Blues Power Band on May 15th, 2008. The concert is a fund raiser,and will be held at the Pontiac Convention Center in Janesville. Doors open at 6pm concert begins at 7pm. There will be a silent auction. Janesville’s Resale, Antique, & Consignment Shops are hosting a tour of downtown Janesville shops to raise funds for the Janesville Firefighters Charities. Anyone can participate by picking up an entry form at any of the participating shops between April 18th and May 18th. Once they’ve visited the shops on the tour, completed entries can be turned in at their final shop for the grand prize drawing.
For every completed entry JRACS will donate $1 to the Janesville Firefighters Charities. Buckets will also be available in each participating location for additional individual donations.
Prizes for the drawing will include a $300 resale shopping spree, a night on the town including gift certificates for the Janesville Performing Arts Center and dinner at The Metropolitan, and more. Writing about your life experiences

A class on writing about your life experiences is taught by Alice Hessenauer each Friday at 1:30PM. The text book required for the class was written by Ruby Walton and can be purchased for $10 at the Senior Center office. There is no charge for the class. New persons are welcome any time and should call the office to register for the class.
