Lengthy sentence in Janesville shooting case
35-year-old Alonzo Potts of Janesville and Holice Wiggins had been friends all their adult lives, but after a night of drinking at a downtown Janesville bar, an argument ensued, and Potts ended up convicted on charges related to Wiggins being shot repeatedly.
During sentencing Tuesday in Rock County Court, Judge James Daley said the first shot was fired at the chest of Mr. Wiggins at close range, and four more followed. Daley says Wiggins ended up with five bullets in him. He survived.
Daley sentenced Potts to 10-years in prison, followed by 10-years supervised release, on a reduced charge of first degree reckless injury.

Wonder what the pre-sentence report suggested. Did he complete anger management? Did Wiggins request leniency? Alcohol or substance abuse being addressed with therapy?

I agree "lenghty" 10 years doesnt sound like enough for trying a few times

He was originally charged with first degree intentional homicide. What has happened since that charge to make this a reckless injury?

Whose opinion is it this is a lengthy sentence, Stan Stricker's? Sorry this is another weak plea bargain on an attempted murder charge.

That's lengthy? 5 intentional shots lodged in another person at point blank range is nothing short of trying to kill them. There are three exceptions to this. The term "kill" would only have an exception if done by a child or a Police Officer. Reckless is one shot or a burst from an automatic. Five shots is not reckless, rather it is intentional. It is 5 pulls of the trigger. It is 1/3 to 1/2 of a magazine. It is a full or nearly full cylinder on a revolver. It is a single shot of an illegal machine gun, or a loading of the gun 5 times on a single shot. No matter how you want to look at it, 10 years is not long enough
