WCLO's Steve Benton reports the Beloit School District has formed an ad hoc committee to look into a tighter dress code

— The issue of school uniforms, or "common attire" is going to be put under the microscope by a Beloit School Board ad hoc committee.

Board member Pam Charles, says it isn't an effort to have the kids dress in Blazers and plaid skirts.

Charles says a survey of middle school parents led to the formation of the committee, which will research what other districts have done and whether the policies were a success or failure.

The committee's first meeting is scheduled for May, 15th and it will take about a year to consider all aspects of the issue.
