WCLO's Steve Benton reports Evansville is ready for wind energy
EVANSVILLE If a survey is any indication, residents in the Evansville area could have a significant amount of their energy provided by the wind soon.
Project Developer for Eco-Energy, Curt Bjurlin, says Evansville Water and Light would like to place wind turbines West of the city. They would produce about 20% of the power needed in the area.
The survey indicated around 77% of those responding favor developing wind energy.
The project is still in the planning stages and a public hearing for affected residents is scheduled for May 29th.
The survey was commissioned by EcoEnergy.
