Janesville City Manager Steve Sheiffer says 20 years is long enough between economic summits and is proposing one for the summer.

Sheiffer admits the current economic news is challenging, but rather than saying, "woe is me...woe is me," Sheiffer suggests planning a strategy for the future. He says the economic summit 20 years ago help direct a clear path for the future, which has worked well. A steering committee is expected to be established yet this month, and the event could be hosted within 60 to 90 days.

Sheiffer says everyone will be invited to offer input.
