WCLO's Beth Wheelock reports on the progress of Edgerton's skate park.

Kids lobbying for a skate park in Edgerton impress a member of the Parks & Recreation Committee.

Paul Davis says he was impressed with the way the kids handled themselves requesting funds for the park, fund raising, and attending city meetings. The city is providing matching funds of $12,500.

Currently, the city is having work done in a nearby drainage area. They're trying to have that completed before the slab is laid for the skate park. Davis expects that to be done by the end of May so the work will be complete when the adjacent swimming pool opens in June.

The citizens group is responsible for the structures on the slab where the actual skateboarding will take place.
