Council reopens Riverside wading pool
A bit of summertime fun is coming back to Janesville. The city council Monday night approved funding to reopen the Riverside Park Wading pool.
City Leisure Services Director Mike Williams says an opening date of June 28th is planned. The council approved $62,000 for start up costs of the facility which has been dormant since 2002. The council also approved a $30,000 operating budget with money for lifeguards and maintenance.
Janesville city staff will also be working up a report of maintenance needs at city owned property. Council member George Brunner Monday night expressed concern about a lack of upkeep for some facilities.
Brunner also mentioned concern over upkeep at the historic Lincoln Tallman House. Brunner did ask more money be dedicated to building maintenance. The Janesville city council also wants residents to feel welcome to speak.
Council member Bill Truman joined the majority of the council Monday night in voting to move the public input portion of the meeting, from almost last on the agenda, to almost first. Council member Tom McDonald has concerns. He's worried people waiting for items on the agenda will be delayed by extended public comment.
