WCLO's Stan Stricker reports on Evansville's environmental partnership with the state

A local community is taking its environmental efforts very seriously.

Evansville is one of twelve new members of the state’s Energy Independent Community Partnership program. Evansville Mayor Sandra Decker says businesses, schools, and residents are working together in Evansville to be more environmentally friendly. The goal is to help the state generate 25% of the state’s electricity and transportation fuels from renewable resources by 2025. Decker says the community just “gets it”.

As part of the partnership, communities may receive additional access to state and federal funding to help improve energy efficiency.
