WCLO's Steve Benton reports fundraising is underway for Janesville's downtown mural project.

— The Janesville Design and Development Center is sponsoring the "Heart of the City Outdoor Art Campaign" and Managing Director, Christine Moore says the fundraising effort is now underway.

Raffle tickets are on sale for prizes like Milwaukee Brewers games, U.W. Football, Comedy Night at the Armory, Harley-Davidson rental packages and more.

The project involves three artists that will each produce a mural representing three pieces of Janesville's history.

Moore says the murals will be on large 20 x 25 foot pieces of vinyl that will be framed on three buildings in the downtown.

Cost of the project is $60,000 and Moore hopes to have the murals on display by fall.

$60,000? Couldn't Forward Janesville use that money to help a start-up business instead of wasting it on expensive art?
