Beloit Police report three shootings this week
Beloit Police are investigating the city's third shooting this week.
Captain Bill Tyler says paramedics treated a 32-year-old gunshot victim at a home on Euclid Avenue on Wednesday and transported him to an area hospital for treatment. The victim is in the intensive care unit where investigators are waiting to speak with him once his condition improves. Tyler says preliminary investigation indicates there was an earlier altercation between the victim and armed suspects at the home. A short while later, the victim was shot outside. After he was shot, he returned to the house and collapsed, and people at the residence called 911.
A search warrant was subsequently served at the residence by members of the drug and gang unit. Details on the warrant are not currently available.
At about 6pm Thursday, police responded to a shots-fired call on Moore Street and found that a house had been shot at several times and at least one person had been hit. Paramedics treated the 24 year old victim and transported him to an area hospital. Several people, including a young child, were in the home at the time of the shooting. Tyler says the incident was gang-related.
These incidents follow a fatal shooting Tuesday near Merrill Elementary School.
Police say that suspect is still at large.

Wow people. I think we are missing the bigger picture here. As much as we would like to think, and/or believe one community is better than the other, we need to think again. These communities are less than ten minutes away from each other, both have gang activity, stabbings, robberies, and drug problems; rather than comparing notes to see who is worse, how about putting an end to it so another house isn't being shot up with someone's child inside? This is ridiculous. And it starts at home people. Love your children enough to teach them right from wrong. Teach them to respect others, set goals for themselves and have consequences when they've done wrong. Be parents to begin with and we can cut down on some of this generation's mess.

Stating all of Beloit citizens are ignorant is a very narrow minded and incorrect statement. Kudos to both haze08 and steup....could not have said it better! Velheim, what does that say for you that you know people that have a better time finding drugs in Beloit than Janesville???? Sounds like some of that cities finest is coming into Beloit to commit crimes

i totally agree with you.
Beloit and Janesville both equally have there flaws but whose to point fingers. Like this person said The guy who murder the Lentz family is STILL NOT BEEN CONVICTED!!! The man who murdered erica in front of her son IS STILL IN ROCK COUNTY JAIL!!! As a matter a fact my mothers boyfriend is in the same cell block wit him for drunk driving. Judge me as you wish but Beloit is NO WORSE off then Janesville!

Janesville is a safe place, our citizens are not as ignorant as Beloits. I know people who have an easier time finding drugs in Beloit than Janesville, and Janesville never has 3 shootings if someone gets killed its on a rare occurrence unlike Beloit who has multiple homicides in a 5 month span.

I have lived in Beloit my entire life and I currently work in Janesville. To compare Beloit's crime to Janesville's is ridiculous. Neither of these cities have a community to be PROUD OF AT THIS TIME. If you want to compare notes, yes Beloit has had (3) shootings in one week. A paroled criminal is at large for the first shooting and the others appear to be gang related or drug related. Janesville is hardly a SAFE CITY! The entire Lentz family was killed and their killer has yet to be convicted, A rapist Michael Huber in Janesville committing crimes from 1998 to present. Erica Ostenson shot to death in Janesville by her estranged boyfriend. INSTEAD OF POINTING FINGERS, WHY NOT DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT? HAVE YOU REPORTED A CRIME YOU HAVE SEEN COMMITTED OR DID YOU JUST WALK AWAY? HAVE YOU ATTENDED A CITY COUNCIL MEETING AND VOICED YOUR CONCERNS FOR THE SAFETY OF BOTH OF THESE COMMUNITIES? To make reference that Beloit is full of crime without having your fact's straight is a very uneducated opinion.
