Janesville pools appear popular this summer.

City Aquatics Director Shelly Slapak says attendance is up about one-third over last year at Rockport Pool. She says attendance at the wading pools is about double last year.

She attributes the increase to hot and humid weather, as well as, a sluggish economy prompting many families to stay closer to home.

Now if they can get less rude kids as lifeguards....

Threatening to kick anyone out who gets him wet at the diving pool is just plain pathetic.

Also the guard who parks her green scooter in the handicap hash marks needs to be told to park it in a stall like she is supposed to.

I think the improvements at Rockport are great. But they DO need to put up some shade in the kiddie pool area. There is zero. Not to protect from burning, that's where sunscreen comes in, but to provide some relief from the blazing sun. It seems like it'd be common sense to stick one of those giant blue umbrellas in the kiddie pool area.

Did you send sunscreen? And did she use it? Don't blame where Rockport pool for not having any shade, we go swimming there and don't get fried because we apply sunscreen. We apply it every few hours to insure we don't get burned.

And this is news why?
Anyone with a shred of common sense could make that call and without it being a surprise. The problem at Rockport is NO shade. They need to get more umbrellas or something for shade. People are getting baked in the sun. My daughter came home fried after being at the pool one day.
