Traffic fatalities in Rock County beginning in 2008. View map
An accident involving a motorcycle and an SUV claimed the life of the cycle operator.
The Town of Beloit Police Department responded to the intersection of Highway 51 and Inman Parkway around 3:30 Thursday afternoon and reported the cycle had hit the rear of the SUV as the SUV slowed to turn.
Pronounced dead at the scene is 22-year-old Michael Rounds of Beloit. His passenger, 21-year-old Britannie Rounds is listed in very critical condition at UW Hospital in Madison.
Both were ejected from the cycle and neither were wearing helmets. Speed is believed to a factor in the crash.
The driver of the SUV was not hurt.
No tickets were issued pending completion of the investigation.

Gone - yeah the report has it all wrong huh? SUV was southbound and motorcycle was northbound. Kind of hard to rear-end someone when travelling in opposite directions......

Possible scenario: man in SUV turning left, light turns yellow while he is in the intersection. Motorcycle heading north, light turns yellow. Motorcycle speeds up to beat the light - man in SUV thinks motorcycle will stop for light. SUV turns, motorcycle hits.
1 - always look for motorcycles.
2 - always wear a helmet while riding
3 - never assume someone is going to stop
My prayers to the family and friends. This could have been avoided.

I cut and paste this......Rounds was driving north on Riverside Drive when his motorcycle collided with a southbound sport utility vehicle driven by John R. Stott, 64, Beloit, who was turning left onto Inman Parkway. Upon impact, both Rounds and his wife were thrown from the motorcycle. Neither was wearing a helmet and speeds are believed to be a factor in the crash, the release said.

Since this story broke, and I started reading all these comments, for the first time in my life I am assamed of where I live. For all you people who are joking or making snide remarks, SHAME ON YOU!!! A man is dead, a woman is critical and a child is growing up with out the love of a parent. How dare you talk badly about some one and at a tragic time like this how dare you decide that you are better than tham, you are not by any means perfect, no one is! God had decided that it was Michaels time to walk beside him in the heavens.
My heart and prayers go out to the family in this sad time..
God bless you and may he heal your heart.
