WCLO's Stan Stricker reports lighting upgrade saving thousands of dollars annually

A bright idea appears to be paying off for the National Guard Armories in Janesville and Beloit.

Alliant Energy spokesman Scott Reigstad says a state and federally funded program to install more energy efficient lighting is saving lots of money. The initiative is part of Governor Jim Doyle's call for state agencies to reduce energy use. Reigstad says about $7000 a year will be saved in energy costs annual at the armories in Janesville and Beloit.

The program will essentially pay for itself in savings.
