Plea deal still in the works for former Janesville School District employee
The case of a former Janesville school employee, accused of a scheme to profit from district purchases, won't be going to jury trial.
32-year-old Brandon Keirns waived his right to a preliminary hearing, as well as a jury trial, during a plea hearing Tuesday in Rock County Court. The defense says a plea agreement is being worked out. Keirns is accused of buying the district more than $ 200,000 worth of computer software from companies he and a friend owned. Keirns was hired by the district in December of 2007, but resigned in less than a year when a computer virus crippled the school system's computers.
The next hearing date is set for July 7th.
