WCLO's Steve Benton reports on early discussions on the Beloit School District's next budget
BELOIT The Beloit School Board is taking some preliminary steps in working out next year's budget.
At a special meeting March 16th, the board discussed ways to cut the budget, or create additional revenue, in order to make up for a proposed deficit. That number was originally $1.5 million, however administration reworked some debt, saving the district over $1 million.
School Board President Michael Ramsdail says they only have to make up for a deficit of about $400,000 at this time. He says they'll have to get creative because they can't afford to cut any programs.
