A ceremony took place to mark the end of SUV production at the GM plant in Janesville. Speaking are plant manger Gary Malkus, UAW Local 95 Shop Chair John Dohner Jr., and UAW Local 95 President Andy Richardson.
JT - I was there. There was no slight, JD started up fast after Malkus spoke, and people were dealing with the reality of the situation and were probably just trying to hold themselves together at the start of the presentation. No one was looking for blame today, it was a day of sadness and loss.
hmmm. I noticed there was no applause after Gary Malkus spoke. Surely the hard working men and women of the Janesville GM plant don't hold him responsible. Dohner and Richardson did have one thing right I think... and that is, while there is still a General Motors, there is still hope [however slim] for the Janesville plant. I'm not holding my breath, but at least it's a slightly better chance than the folks had at Beloit Corporation after Harnishfeger {spelling?} sold 'em down the river. Try and have a Merry Christmas.
