someoneme, teachers were frozen for all of the 2009/2010 school year. So that has been 12 months for them. Many other public employees such as firemen, police officers, and county and city workers received raises larger than the what the teachers are getting. Also, teachers are the only staff in the district that pay health insurance premiums each month without getting reimbursed any of it. Administration, clerical, maintenance etc.. don't currently pay any from what I've been told. Is this right Frank? Perhaps this info needs to be shared so that it isn't the teachers always targeted in the gazette.
Again, no mention of the teachers of the year from the Monday assembly at Craig! Wouldn't want to give to much recognition to them.
I have been on a wage freeze for 6 out of the last 9 years. I am currently in the second one still. It is more or less now just lucky to have a job with the way things are going.
There is no one more instrumental in the future success of individuals and our society as a whole than teachers. They deserve all the accolades and SUPPORT that we can provide.
Most teachers deserve greater compensation than they actually get. Maybe some of the people who complain about teachers' salaries should try walking a mile in their shoes. And, no, I am not a teacher.
