Great question SarahB1! If someone doesn't get an organized opposition to this issue going real soon, it is going to get shoved right down our throats. The last couple of articles on the subject sure make it sounds like it's a done deal. There are way to many unanswered questions.

COJ doesn't need to be in the ice rink business. They have better ways to spend our tax dollars and time for things more necessary and useful for the citizens. If the club wants a new rink, they should pay for it. If the club wants to revamp the existing building, they should pay for it and COJ should transfer ownership to the club.

If someone is starting a petition against this move, please post. I'm thinking more than a few people might want to get on board.

Gee Hank, I though part of my property taxes went to the school district. Unless you've figured a way to live in the City of Janesville and not pay property taxes.......

Would a larger, two sheet, ice arena be nice in Janesville? Given the usage that I personally see down there, yes, it would be nice. Should the City of Janesville build it and just give it to ONE group or club? OH HECK NO!!!!! (swearing is against the rules)

We spent $70 mil to upgrade both High Schools to include sports facilities/field houses. All athletes should be given the same opportunity to practice the sport they participate in. The same consideration should be given to Hockey and Figure skating. This is a facility that is used by many people and would also provide the potential to bring tourism dollars into the city.
