Can we wonder just for 10min. Currently, the city allows:Pythons,Iguanas,Pot Bellies(?),Parrots of all types and sizes, some 3ft.long.Snakes of all kinds.Turtles, lizards, again,of many kinds and some very large(4ft.),Guinea Pigs, fish, you want stink, smell a fish tank/water!Rabbits,and many more. Not one that provides food, except maybe the rabbits. Finally, why do people keep tossing in the noise? Roosters aren't allowed, and they are nothing compared to constantly barking dogs, howling cats,gang-punks!We've green spaces where kids can't play, adults can't spread a blanket for a picnic, why?Because dog owners refuse to pickup the 2# piles from their mutts!Ya,think chicks are bad.Check the green spaces near home..disgusting! Hav-A-Hapi..
If, for no other reason, the ignorance many urban dwellers demonstrate about raising chickens ("roaming around", a fad, smelly, dirty, noisy, irresponsible "pet" owners, bad neighbors, etc.) indicates a need for fact-based education and exactly why it should be legal to have a few hens in the urban environment!
misterC- And you think we are ignorant of the farm life because...?
News flash- the "back to nature movement" is not new. It cycles through this country every 20-30 years. We swing back in the other direction because of economy of scale.
grandprixgirl - The real aroma trouble is the self-righteousness of the (w)holier (food) than thou crowd.
WELL GOOD MORNING GLAD TO SEE EVERY ONE WENT AND GOT SOME CHICKEN ED AND STILL FORMING OPINIONS ON MISINFORMATION INSTEAD OF FINDING OUT THE REAL FACTS VIST SOME REAL POULTRY SITES HECK GO OUT ON A LIMB AND VIST SOMEONE WITH CHICKENS UNTILL THEN ALL OF YOU THAT MAKE COMMENTS REALY NEED TO THINK HOW EVERY ONE IS THINKING ABOUT HOW SMART PEOPLE IN JANESVILLE ARE AND NOT REFFERD TO AS THE GAZETTE PEANUT GALLARY LETS HAVE SOME GOOD THOUGHT OUT DICUSSIONS NOT THIS STUFF THAT RESEMBLES TWO KIDS ON A PLAY GROUND
This has to be a joke. I don't want farm animals roaming around in the city. I don't want the smell or the noise. Keep chickens in the country where they belong!
Chickens? Really? What an aroma for the neighbors on a hot, humid night...
